eldritch tome
Plural: eldritch tomes
You're not quite sure where that crazy old coot at the Wok found this, but it certainly seems like something that should be sitting, forgotten, on some back shelf in an old library. Probably behind a locked gate. Maybe behind nine of them. Regardless, this musty old book kind of gives you the heebie-jeebies and the jibblies. What I'm saying is, it really puts your super-senses on edge. And what do we do with ancient volumes of curious lore that freak us out?

We give them to our sidekick, of course!

Gives your sidekick understudy a new skill.

How Obtained

The Wok of Stars

When Used

First time:
Your understudy accepts the tome, cautiously flipping through and occasionally mouthing words unpronounceable by human tongues.

All in all, it resulted in less terrified screaming, begging for mercy, and bleeding-from-the-eyes than you expected.

Your sidekick learns a role: Arcane Scholar.

Subsequent times:
Your understudy learned enough the first time to know that reading another of these is a bad idea.

During the Cat and Mick-y Mouse Game quest:
Your kidnapped sidekick isn't available for training right now. The whole being kidnapped thing, you know.

Notes

  • When bought: The shopekeeper accepts your silver stars and reverently hands you the tome of ancient wisdom.
