I forgot to copy down the text, but if you use a combat item, you instead throw it into the Sludgyre and power it up. I used Justin's magic wand (which was consumed), and it leveled up by 20 (<autosell>/10). I also have the following on my records:

Thrown:

hoyifung03 threw 200.

Given that the name of the image is sludgyretadpole.gif, I'm guessing throwing enough value of items into this turns it into a new form.

Killed it at 755 FT. It appears it doesn't need to be a dragon for us to poach an eye or get the vehicle. Need more data for the eggs though.
It seems that the amount of healing isn't linear. Dunno if the Sludgyre needs to be over 100 ft for it to count fully for the 1st player who fights it or if someone does too much damage it affects the amount of healing done.
The amount of coffees seems to depend on the Thrown numbers, which are linear to the autosell of all items used. Above 100 seems to make it. The vehicle seems tied to the healing, but it's just my guess.
This is the coolest league foe so far :P

Again, # of coffee == # of characters in the fray.

Healing may be tied to the amount of being beaten up by the sludgyre. I got beaten up only once this time, but several times in the previous case.

One consumable is always guaranteed in league fights (except for the pinatas), fighting it with only one character proves nothing in that regard. I tested with my alts and with 5 fighting and only 4 throwing stuff only 4 coffees were made. Patojonas 11:06, 18 May 2016 (PDT)

Another day with xKiv. Again just flash-restore capsules until 1000 ft, but this time I used normal attacks instead of a single critical maul.

Damage 19758, thrown 10200, healed 1290.

Waders, 2 x eye, 1 x coffee.

Flash-restore capsules, intermingled with some attacks. Got beaten up once, won with counterstrike damages next round. Sludgyre was at +780.

Damage: 33962. Thrown: 7800. Healing: healed 4893.

spoils: 1 x mint condition card, 1 x junked junker, 1 x eye of the Sludgyre, 1 x coffee sludge

Note that I had more healing this time, even though I did more total damage. Speculation: 1) feeding the sludgyre increases its max hp, but doesn't heal it to full 2) throwing healing items only counts as healing "up to current max hp".

• so hitting it without killing it makes more room for healing from then on.

New strategy: 1st throw stuff to beef it up, then deal damage and after use the healing stuff. Good numbers with this strategy:

Threw 10 insta-salve, large, thus the 1000 thrown value, it had 100FT and was at the 2nd form.
While throwing the healing items the total damage done from strikebacks and foe fumbles was 101, thus the healing value. ==> This means that it only counts healing values up to it's current MaxHP.
Was doing lightning bolts to control the damage, so at the 2nd form it seems to have ~8500 MaxHP.
Tomorrow I'll try with 100FT attained with non healing items.

Made it to the second form with 30 insta salve large, 0 damage before reaching the 2nd form. 10595 damage, finished with a lightning bolt (~160) so the 2nd form seems to have 10500 HP.
No healing was registered whatsoever, which means it heals to full health when it morphs?

Third form, 60 insta salves, 13800 damage. If you remove the 137 in fumbles and the 164 in the last hit that's 13499 HP, so 13500HP in the 3rd form. it dropped cannon, waders and egg. Patojonas 12:47, 8 June 2016 (PDT)
