'''/channels'''<br>

See which channels are available to you. Normal, Help, Trade, Games, and Roleplay are open to everyone from the start. The names of the channels should give a very good indication of what their purposes are, with Normal being a catchall for anything not in the others. No spoilers will be allowed in Help. Reton is free for any and all spoilers once it has been unlocked. All other channels will stand by the 48-hour rule (no spoilers for anything discovered in the last 48 hours, unless it's clearly open to the public, like items in stores.) Most channels have shortcut codes: N for Normal, ? for Help, $ or T for trade, G for games, RP for Roleplay. R is the retcon channel, earned by anyone who completes one retcon.

Chat is still limited, but it's got an ever-growing functionality. Here's the basic stuff you can do:
+
'''#[channel] [message] or `[channel] [message]'''<br>
 +
Speak into a channel that you're listening to but aren't in currently. You cannot speak into a channel that you're not listening to. Example: you're in channel Normal and listening to Help. You could use this to say something in the Help channel.
 +

 +
'''/who'''<br>
 +
List who is in the channel.
 +

 +
'''/whois [player]'''<br>
 +
Look up information about a player, by ID or by name. It will tell you whether a player is online (took an action in the last 90 seconds or is present in chat). It will also say whether they are in chat, unless the player is currently invisible.
 +

 +
'''/em [message]'''<br>
 +
Puts a message in italics. Is short for "emote" and is generally used to imply actions without speaking. Be like the mime, not like the chattering monkey.

'''Change channels.''' Type /c and then the channel you want. Chat recognizes both the name and the number for chat channels. Available channels are:
+
'''/pm [player] [message] or /msg [player] [message] or /w [player] [message]'''<br>
/newbie or /1 -- This is newbie, fun, and games. It's for asking non-spoiler questions and for goofing around.
+
Send a private message to another player. You can send it to the player's ID or name (with underscores instead of spaces).

/normal or /2 -- This is gameplay and trade. For game-related conversations, spoilers, and financial transactions.
+
'''/r [message]'''<br>
 +
"Repeat" of sorts - sends a pm to the last person you sent one to, without having to type their name or ID. Does not remember this once chat is closed. This does not send a pm to the person who last sent you one -- despite that being a popular request, it's too easy for someone to cause a misfire using that method.

'''Emote.''' Type /em or /me and the rest of the message. It shows up in italics and always prints your name at the beginning.
+
'''/cls'''<br>
 +
Clear the chat screen of all messages.

'''Private messages.''' Type /pm [character number or character_name_with_underscores] [message]. The spaces between the command, the number, and the message are necessary. This will send a private message, which nobody else can see, to the character with that number or that name (names with spaces need to be typed with underscores instead of spaces; example: to send a PM to the character Big Shot you'd need to type /pm big_shot [message]). You will get a green confirmation message, and they will get the message in blue. The /w and /msg commands work as duplicate options for /pm. If a PM is sent to a player who is not in chat or online, or to a number that doesn't represent a real player, the message will be lost.
+
'''/taglen'''<br>
 +
Stands for tag length. Toggles between short and longer versions of channel tags. (Example: will display [N] instead of [Normal] or [?] for [Help].

'''Send a private message to the last person you sent a PM to.''' Type /r and the message. Chat remembers who you last sent a messge to. This is not saved between sessions.
+
'''/exit'''<br>
 +
Leave chat.

'''Look up a character.''' Type /whois and the character name.
+
'''/time'''<br>
 +
Print out the time as the game's server knows it. May be useful for people who aren't on US Mountain time, who want to figure out when things happen.

'''See everyone in your channel.''' Type /who and a list of those currently in chat will appear.
+
'''/rollover'''<br>
 +
Tells you the amount of time until rollover will occur.

'''Get help.''' Type /help. However, it's far more limited than this page here, so it's not your best bet.
+
'''/count [item name or partial name]'''<br>
 +
Will attempt to tell you how many of the item you have in inventory. If there's more than one match, it may ask for clarification.

'''Leave chat.''' Type /exit. Or just click the link at the bottom of chat.
+
'''/roll [NdS] [optional trailing text]'''<br>
 +
Rolls N dice with S sides, and outputs the results into chat. The limit is 10 dice at once, and up to 1 million sides. If you have GOOD reason to need more, we can adjust it up, but be prepared to write a persuasive argument, and Ryme grades on grammar and logic. Also you may notice that proper /roll commands will always show the "NdS" part and the rolls in bold, which can't be faked with a simple /em. Any optional trailing text prints out after all the rolls.

''Coming soon:'' the ability to listen to other channels.
+
'''/flip'''<br>
 +
Flips a coin, announcing the results in public. The result (heads or tails) is marked in bold, again to prevent any cheating.

''Coming slightly less soon:'' ignore/baleet, and /friend commands.
+
'''Fun surprises!'''<br>
 +
Chat comes pre-loaded with silly undocumented responses to a few other commands. You might try /spoon or /draw, for instance. And don't forget to look for that secret pig level!
 +
==Notes==
 +
* Other commands include:
 +
:* '''/day''' - displays the current Twilight day.

Chat

Chat is still limited, but it's got an ever-growing functionality. Here's the basic stuff you can do:

/? or /help
Pull up a list of common commands.

/c [channel] or /channel [channel]
Go to another channel.

/channels

/l [channel] or /listen [channel]
Listen to another channel. To stop listening, type the command a second time.

/s [channel] or /switch [channel]
Switch to another channel, but still listen to your current channel.

#[channel] [message] or `[channel] [message]
Speak into a channel that you're listening to but aren't in currently. You cannot speak into a channel that you're not listening to. Example: you're in channel Normal and listening to Help. You could use this to say something in the Help channel.

/who
List who is in the channel.

/whois [player]
Look up information about a player, by ID or by name. It will tell you whether a player is online (took an action in the last 90 seconds or is present in chat). It will also say whether they are in chat, unless the player is currently invisible.

/em [message]
Puts a message in italics. Is short for "emote" and is generally used to imply actions without speaking. Be like the mime, not like the chattering monkey.

/pm [player] [message] or /msg [player] [message] or /w [player] [message]
Send a private message to another player. You can send it to the player's ID or name (with underscores instead of spaces).

/r [message]
"Repeat" of sorts - sends a pm to the last person you sent one to, without having to type their name or ID. Does not remember this once chat is closed. This does not send a pm to the person who last sent you one -- despite that being a popular request, it's too easy for someone to cause a misfire using that method.

/cls
Clear the chat screen of all messages.

/taglen
Stands for tag length. Toggles between short and longer versions of channel tags. (Example: will display [N] instead of [Normal] or [?] for [Help].

/exit
Leave chat.

/time
Print out the time as the game's server knows it. May be useful for people who aren't on US Mountain time, who want to figure out when things happen.

/rollover
Tells you the amount of time until rollover will occur.

/count [item name or partial name]
Will attempt to tell you how many of the item you have in inventory. If there's more than one match, it may ask for clarification.

/roll [NdS] [optional trailing text]
Rolls N dice with S sides, and outputs the results into chat. The limit is 10 dice at once, and up to 1 million sides. If you have GOOD reason to need more, we can adjust it up, but be prepared to write a persuasive argument, and Ryme grades on grammar and logic. Also you may notice that proper /roll commands will always show the "NdS" part and the rolls in bold, which can't be faked with a simple /em. Any optional trailing text prints out after all the rolls.

/flip
Flips a coin, announcing the results in public. The result (heads or tails) is marked in bold, again to prevent any cheating.

Fun surprises!
Chat comes pre-loaded with silly undocumented responses to a few other commands. You might try /spoon or /draw, for instance. And don't forget to look for that secret pig level!
