Major Twilight's stalwart scutum
Plural: Major Twilight's stalwart scuta
Back in the Golden Age of Twilight, the most famous hero was Major Twilight. He represented everything good and noble about Twilight city (such as it was), and was almost universally loved. Some cynical commentators think it was just because he took the city's name as his own, but most people just think those commentators are jerks.

Regardless, like most of the other Golden Age heroes, he mysteriously disappeared many years ago. Many people think that Colonel Afternoon (who represented "corruption, graft, and the Twilight way") was responsible, but he was never convicted of anything (see above about corruption and graft).

All that remains from this once great hero is his incredible shield. As much a weapon as a means of defense, this nigh-indestructible moon-styled shield was built by Mecha Nist out of acoustically tuned paladinum. Nobody's sure exactly what that means, but it seems to imply that somehow it remembers the Major, and will only work properly for people who hold up his ideals.
