Just like it says on the tin. While the name might imply that this is a fragment of a blazing shield (and thus impossible), this is actually a shield fragment that is currently on fire. The fact that it burns without an apparent fuel source is just one of those universal mysteries, like the one about the refrigerator light, or who put the ram in the ramalamadingdong.
