Iceberg Nine

You are fighting Iceberg Nine.

You might be wondering where the first eight icebergs went, but we're not going to tell you and skip straight to Iceberg Nine. It's not from outer space, but is still pretty angry about always being painted as the bad guy in the "Titanic incident."

You're minding your own business, some yahoo runs a cruise liner into you and it's your fault? C'mon!

That said, the way it's parked itself in the middle of Twilight's harbor and begun overturning ships doesn't do much to help its case.
Your opponent attacks ...

Hit messages:

  • A penguin at the top of the iceberg says "slide" and does... right into your sternum.
  • The iceberg groans ominously and, when you shout a warning to a passing ship, drops a massive avalanche on you. damage + (ice) damage
  • The iceberg just sits there, being cold. Very, very cold. (ice) damage

It hits you for X damage.

Critical hit message:

Your opponent has a critical hit! It hits you for X damage.

Miss messages:

  • A penguin at the top of the iceberg says "slide" and does... right into the water. It's kind of cute.
  • The iceberg groans ominously, but you keep quiet. It's a well know fact that 100% of avalanches are caused by people shouting.
  • The iceberg just sits there, being cold.

Fumble messages:

Your foe fumbles! It takes X damage.

Iceberg Nine crumbles into the waters. Its fragments spread thoughout the harbor, bobbing up and down on the chill water.

You take a well-deserved moment to pat yourself on the back, but there's still work to be done.

Known resistances/weaknesses

100% weak to fire damage.
Immune to ice damage.
50% resistant to electric damage.
50% weak to sonic damage.

Notes

  • The foe has 100000 HP.
  • At the start of the fight, one of the following messages appears:
if you don't have a source of Fire self damage:
You carefully navigate through the frozen winds. You gain an effect: Frostbitten, Twice Shy. (Added for 5 minutes.)
You swim from one berg to another until one rears up under your feet and dumps you into the frozen water. You gain an effect: Frostbitten, Twice Shy. (Added for 15 minutes.)
if you have a source of Fire self damage:
You carefully navigate through the frozen winds, but your gear is plenty hot to keep you warm.
You swim from one berg to another until one rears up under your feet and dumps you into the frozen water, but your gear is plenty hot to keep you warm.
if you already have the Frostbitten, Twice Shy debuff from previous fights the following is added:
A chill begins to set in for X (ice) damage. Where X is ceiling{[0.05*(buff duration before fight)]2}

The chill seeps into your bones for Y (ice) damage. Where Y is ceiling{[0.1*(current buff duration)]2}

  • After doing at least 100 damage, the Opening "Break the Iceberg" is added:
Break the Iceberg moves Iceberg Nine closer to destruction. It's a cold job, but somebody's got to do it.
  • Using the Opening gives:
if you did less than 1000 damage, a one ice amounting to 1 break is created with the message:
You break an ice cube off the berg, but it stays together, proving once again that ice is thicker than water. You also slip and put your foot into the ice cold water, which is basically the worst thing ever.
You gain an effect: Frostbitten, Twice Shy. (Added for 10 minutes.)

if you did from 1001 to 9999 damage, an ice ice amounting to 2 breaks is created with the message:
With a little help from you, the iceberg calves a massive chunk of itself into Twilight's harbor... and splashing freezing water splashing back on to you.
You gain an effect: Frostbitten, Twice Shy. (Added for 20 minutes.)

if you did 10000 damage or more, an Iceberg Five amounting to 5 breaks is created with the message:
You break a titanic chunk off the iceberg, sending it splashing into Twilight's harbor... and freezing water splashing back on to you.
You gain an effect: Frostbitten, Twice Shy. (Added for 50 minutes.)

  • These messages are followed by a line that tracks your progress:
The iceberg looks a little smaller than when it drifted into the harbor. (1-5 breaks)
The iceberg looks smaller than when it first drifted into the harbor. (6-10 breaks)
The iceberg is definitely smaller than when it first drifted into the harbor. (11-15 breaks)
The iceberg is far smaller than when it first drifted into the harbor. (16-20 breaks)
The iceberg has gotten far smaller. It's definitely on its last legs... or whatever. (21-25 breaks)

  • If you don't use the Opening then every time you do 20000 damage an Iceberg Five will be created with the message:
A titanic chunk breaks off the iceberg, sending it splashing into Twilight's harbor... and freezing water splashing back on to you.
You gain an effect: Frostbitten, Twice Shy. (Added for 50 minutes.)
