Revision as of 22:46, 23 July 2009

Located in Somerset Square.

This location has a major part in the Trouble in the Galleria quest. Hiring a Freelance Teenager however, is independent of the quest, and is always available before 11:05.

Before 11:05

Freelance Teenager

There's a tough-acting teenager who knows your reputation and offers to work as a hero's assistant for minimum wage: 10 chips/hour. He tries to look brave and tough, but you get the feeling under the bravado he's just a wide-eyed kid. Still, he might be able to shout, "Look out!" when someone's just about to hit you from behind.

This information may no longer be accurate; please move this information to the Notes section using {{Oldsummon}} and use {{Summoncompanion}} instead.

  • Without a current companion:
You fork over the cash and the kid pockets it. He smiles at you, but he looks nervous. Still, he leaves when you do. (Duration: 60 minutes.)
You hand over some more cash. The kid hesitates, but then accepts further employment.
  • When you have a different companion:
The kid seems intimidated by your current sidekick, and declines to enter your employ.

Sidekick/companion: Freelance teenager

As you walk in the front door of Jax 'Za, the first thing you notice is a large sign that reads "Hot Pie Till 11:05." It looks like a nice family pizza parlor. The place is busy but not packed. Other than the main restaurant there's a bathroom and a door at the end of the hall marked "Office - Private." Since you ate before heading out to fight crime, you aren't hungry right now.

Try the Private Office

You try the door, but it's locked.

Try the Bathroom

You poke around in the bathroom for a while, but find nothing interesting.

After 11:05

After the quest is completed

You swing by the pizza place. It's still open during the day, but at night the place is quiet and deserted. No goons standing out front. No criminal activities running in the back. All is as it should be. You smile in satisfaction and enjoy the quiet for a moment, and then continue on your way.

Before the quest is completed

You walk up to Jax 'Za, and two heavies stop you at the door. "Can I help you?" one asks. "You here to see somebody?"

You Say: Name

  • Using any name except "John Steele":

The two guys look at each other for a second, then look at you. One says, "Sorry, pal, but <Name> ain't here."

  • Using the name "John Steele" with a weapon equipped:

The two guys look at each other for a second, then look at you, then back at each other. "Okay," one says. They pat you down before letting you in, and quickly locate your weapon. "You know the rules," one goon says. "Come clean or don't try to see Big J." Guess you're going to have to leave your weapon behind.

  • Using the name "John Steele" with no weapon equipped:

The two guys look at each other for a second, then look at you, then back at each other. "Okay," one says. They pat you down to make sure you don't have a weapon, and wave you on in.

Inside the place is dimly lit, but you can see a light streaming out from the back of the hall where the office door is cracked open.

Go to the Office

Lost Somewhere
Fight Big Bad John Steele
Fight very dazed John Steele

Visit the bathroom

You step into the bathroom and look around. There's nothing interesting there, though, so you head back to the lobby.
You go into the bathroom. It's empty, so you quickly go to the toilet and lift the lid to the reservoir. The steel knuckles are waiting there, just like Bob said they would be. You wipe them dry and slip them over your fingers.

This automatically equips the steel knuckles; checking the Wear Things screen at this point will effectively force you out of the pizza place.
