Atop the Tower

Before beating it for the day, without a submicroscopic submarine equipped:

It's apparent, even from high atop the tower, that the city's computers are in crisis. From what the folks who lent you this tower have said, the city needs some serious debugging.

If only there were some way to render yourself submicroscopic so you could fight the bugs yourself. That's how debugging works, right? Right?

Either way, you'd better take care of it quick, because they're releasing a hot patch every night. One of them's bound to work, right? In the mean time, debugging just isn't something you can put off until tomorrow.

Before beating it for the day, with a submicroscopic submarine equipped:

It's apparent, even from high atop the tower, that the city's computers are in crisis. From what the folks who lent you this tower have said, the city needs some serious debugging. Good thing you brought your submarine.

On October 31 2012, before beating her for the day:

From your vantage point, you can see that someone in a crazy lizard costume is rampaging through a scale model of Twilight. Wait a second... that's not a scale model!

If your Field Guide to Giant Monsters is to be believed, this is the Orwhal, the dreaded Narwhal Orangutang.

The book doesn't explain why it has scales.

On or after November 1 2012, before beating her for the day:

From your vantage point, you can see that a massive beast has made landfall and is now rampaging its way through Twilight.

If your Field Guide to Giant Monsters is to be believed, this is the Orwhal, the dreaded Narwhal Orangutang.

The book doesn't explain why it has scales.

On December 7 2012, before beating it for the day:

Someone has rolled a gargantuan pinata through the gates of Twilight. Oh, that's nice!

Well, at least it's nice until it breaks open, revealing dozens of pinatas that begin rampaging through the city. You're pretty sure they're supposed to be filled with candy, not smaller pinatas... particularly not smaller evil mechanized pinatas.

The city's heroes (read as: you) will have to act fast before the city is crushed under the paper mache hoof of oppression.

On or after December 12 2012, before beating it for the day:

A horde of evil mechanized pinatas is attempting to take over Twilight! The city's heroes (read as: you) will have to act fast before the city is crushed under the paper mache hoof of oppression.

On March 26 2013, before beating it for the day:

The mole people have grown tired of being beneath Twilight. They've risen up, burrowing from beneath the streets to wreak havoc on the surface.

Join the Fray

after beating 5 moles, the message is replaced by:

The invading mole people have grown tired of being beneath Twilight... and even more tired of being beaten up by its heroes. They've combined to form Moletron, their ultimate weapon!

On December 7 2013, before beating it for the day:

A massive iceberg floated into Twilight's harbor this morning, blockading ship traffic and chilling the city. It probably explains that freak snow storm, actually.

if one of your league mates has used the Break the Iceber opening, the following is added:

Your league has started breaking pieces off the berg. The smaller pieces don't seem any friendlier than their source.

after defeating Iceberg Nine, the previous is replaced by:

Your league has broken the berg into smaller pieces. They seem... quite a bit more hostile than your average chunk of ice.

Each of the above is followed by:

<player1>, <player2>, ... and <playerN> has/have already leapt into the fray (alongside you). (if someone else already joined the fray)

or

You've already leapt into the fray. (if only you have joined the fray so far)

After beating them for the day:

From your perch atop the skyscraper it's clear that the city is safe... for now.

Followed by:

If you were crazy... and, let's face it, you put on pajamas and fight crime... you could dangle some sort of bait from up here. The city council wouldn't like it, luring monsters into their city, but you could probably throw around some Prestige and convince them to let it slide.

You have X Prestige available.

Select one of the following:

  • Orwhal Chum (20 Prestige)
  • Giant Pinata (20 Prestige)
  • Hanging Ship (20 Prestige)
  • Anti-Mole Banner (20 Prestige)
Bait the Hook

  • If you picked the Orwhal Chum the previous text will be replaced by:

You convince the city to get a giant vat of squid and a huge bag of orangutang food, mix them together, and hang them from the roof of your tower. Assuming the smell doesn't kill your entire league first, the Orwhal should find it hard to resist.

If you visit the Roof again, the message will be:

You have a giant bowl of orangutang chow and squid dangling from the roof. That... seems dangerous.

Somebody must have really thrown your collective weight around with City Hall to get permission for that.

  • If you picked the Giant Pinata the previous text will be replaced by:

The city's been understandably a little gun-shy about giant pinatas since they started regularly invading the city, but you win the council over and hang a truly spectacular pinata from the roof of your tower. Well, that should get the Mechapinatas' attention.

If you visit the Roof again, the message will be:

You have a truly massive pinata dangling from the roof. That... seems dangerous.

Somebody must have really thrown your collective weight around with City Hall to get permission for that.

  • If you picked the Hanging Ship the previous text will be replaced by:

If there's one thing icebergs love, it's wrecking ships. So, it stands to reason the ship you have dangling in the harbor, connected by a long wire to the roof of your league's tower, should get some bites.

If you visit the Roof again, the message will be:

You have a ship all the way down in the harbor, connected to the roof by a titanic fishing line. That... seems dangerous.

Somebody must have really thrown your collective weight around with City Hall to get permission for that.

  • If you picked the Anti-Mole Banner the previous text will be replaced by:

It's hard to say exactly what'll irritate Mole People the most, but you eventually settle on a giant banner reading "I liked moles better when they were still underground." Yeah, that should do the trick.

If you visit the Roof again, the message will be:

You have a banner that says "I liked moles better when they were still underground" dangling from the roof. That... seems dangerous.

Somebody must have really thrown your collective weight around with City Hall to get permission for that.

Notes

  • The bait you pick will decide which league foe you will face the next day.
