Moletron

You are fighting Moletron.

The mole people invading the city have combined into one gigantic molebot! The city seems unprepared for such an attack... probably because every mayor who's put "gigantic molebot countermeasures" in the budget has been laughed out of office.

Well, that means it's up to Twilight's heroes to drive them back to the shadow.
Your opponent attacks ...

Hit messages:

  • Taking a different tack, the robot offers you a gift in recompense for rampaging through the city. Unfortunately, the traditional gift of the mole people is liquid hot magma. (fire) damage
  • The robot's fists get into an argument about which one gets to hit you. In the end, they decide to share and, really, isn't that what's important?
  • The robot roars, shaking the earth and shattering windows for hundreds of yards in every direction. (sonic) damage

It hits you for X damage.

Critical hit message:

Your opponent has a critical hit! It hits you for X damage.

Miss messages:

  • Taking a different tack, the robot offers you a gift in recompense for rampaging through the city. Nothing says "I'm sorry" quite like an invitation to the mole people's office building bonfire afterparty.
  • The robot's fists get into an argument about which one gets to hit you. In the meantime, you go decidedly unhit.
  • The robot pulls its head back to roar, but you remind it that it's a molebot, not a mousebot.

Fumble messages:

Your foe fumbles! It takes X damage.

Moletron breaks back into its component parts. The moles burrow back into the ground, leaving Twilight in peace... for now.

Your league gains 5 Prestige!

Notes

  • The molar drill will be replaced by the Moletron's Molecar under yet unknown conditions, look here for more information.
  • One blazing shield fragment always drops, there is a maximum of 2 if more than 1 player managed to break the shield.
  • The undermined diamond and undermined baseball can both drop at the same time, requirements are currently unknown.
  • One Powdered Moleroot will drop for every different player who kills one of the initial moles, minimum of 1.
  • Combat items that deal percentage damage are capped at 200 damage.
  • Stunning is less effective and lasts half as long, with the message:
Your opponent is too stunned to act, but is shaking it off faster than you expected.
  • After every round of combat, a message about the status of Moletron's shield is shown:
    • Moletron raises its blazing shield. (lasts for 1 round, only happens the 1st round of your 1st fight for the day)
    • Moletron's blazing shield burns you for Y (fire) damage. (lasts for 1 round, Y = damage done to Moletron this round before shield damage)
    • Moletron slams its shield against a nearby building, battering it back into shape... the shield, that is, unless the building's "shape" is a pile of rubble. (occasional, lasts for 1 round)
    • Moletron's shield shatters, showering you with blazing fragments for Y (fire) damage. (lasts for 1 round, Y = damage done to Moletron this round before shield damage)
    • Moletron frantically searches for the pieces of its shattered shield. (lasts for 2 rounds, occasionally 1)
    • Moletron reforges its blazing shield from the shards it's gathered. (lasts for 1 round)
Y is equal to the total sum of the damage the Moletron received that turn, excluding fumbles.
If it doesn't suffer any damage while the shield is up there are no shield messages.
  • In addition, except when reforging the shield, Moletron does damage with one of the following messages:
    • Moletron walks near you. Bits of green moled drop off on you. Thankfully, Gygax didn't design this monster, so it just eats into your flesh for X (acid) damage.
    • Moletron walks near you, exposing you to an... unfortunate view of the pink mole rat that deals X (psychic) damage in scarring to your psyche.
    • Moletron walks near you, ice spreading from its thin blue mole leg to rime you with frost and deal X (ice) damage.
    • Moletron walks near you, sparks leaping from its golden mole leg to shock you for X (electric) damage.
    • Moletron stumbles near you, exposing you to an unpleasant view of the pink mole rat and a shower of green goo for X (psychic) damage and X (acid) damage damage.
    • Moletron stumbles near you, showering you with sparks and ice from its legs for X (electric) damage and X (ice) damage.

References

  • Refers to Voltron, a name give to one of several versions of giant robots assembled from various fighting vehicles.
  • The third hit message refers to Lion Force Voltron, made up of robotic lions.
  • The third miss message refers to the novel The Mouse That Roared.
  • The acid damage end-of-round message refers to Green slime, a monster in Dungeons & Dragons. Gary Gygax was one of the creators of the game.
