This is a pair of electronic bracelets that projects a protective force field around your hands, shielding them not only from physical damage but also slightly reducing elemental damage as well. For those burly, macho hero types who don't feel comfortable wearing bracelets, you can think of them as "wrist guards" instead, if that makes you feel any better.
