defender

You are fighting a defender.

Large and heavily armored, this machine's role is primarily defensive. When a large gun pivots in your direction you realize it must come from the school that believes the best defense is a good offense.
Your opponent attacks ...

Hit messages:

  • A hatch opens, and the defender blasts a foghorn right next to your ear. damage+ (sonic) damage
  • The defender flies all over the place, climbing and dropping and quickly scrolling left and right, shooting everything in sight, before eventually just crashing right into you.
  • The defender smashes you into the ground. A hatch opens, and something looking like a football is spiked into the ground next to you. You're not really surprised when the football explodes. damage+ (fire) damage

It hits you for X damage.

Critical hit message:

Your opponent has a critical hit! It hits you for X damage.

Miss messages:

  • The robot blows a small foghorn and starts playing a looped track that just says "dee-fence" over and over again. You confuse it by going along with the chant.
  • The defender zigs and zags all over the place, but crashes into a weird box-like shape that seems to have been lifting a man up into the air with a weird glowing beam. The man falls back to the ground and scampers off when the box is destroyed.
  • You stay on the offensive, keeping the robot on the defensive. Naturally, this means your offense is the better defense than its defense is offensive, so you win out.

Fumble messages:

Your foe fumbles! It takes X damage.

Victory! You beat up your foe and win the combat!
