Exotic Ranged Weapons use the following messages:

Hit Messages

  • in a fit of creativity, you fire your <weapon> up into the air N times. "Wait for it," you add. Much to your opponent's surprise, unhappy pain rains down on it, dealing X damage.

  • maybe it was luck, maybe it was fate. Maybe you had a V8. Who knows? Regardless, you blasted your opponent N times for X points of funky damage.

  • you actually manage to do X damage after hitting them N times. What luck!
  • you actually manage to do X damage after hitting them once. What luck!
  • you sweep your weapon back and forth, doing a weird sort of spraying motion. You don't know if that helped you hit N times or not, but it made you feel better. Your opponent? Not so much. They're left hurting for X damage.

Miss Messages

  • you try the indirect fire method and shoot up in the air. Oh dear. Wrong trajectory. I hope you don't annihilate some poor citizen's car or something.
  • you thought you had loaded your <weapon>, but I guess not.
  • you try to lead your target, but I guess this is a direct fire weapon.
  • you fire directly at your target, but I guess you need to lead with this thing.
  • you think you know how to use this thing, but you don't: it doesn't even fire.

Fumble Message

Fumble! You're in a bad place here. Your <weapon> isn't something you really have any idea how to use, and you're just kind of winging it at the best of times. This isn't the best of times. In fact, this is the worst of times. You aren't sure what happened, but when you come to, you've been blasted for X damage.

Critical Hit Message

  • you aren't quite sure what you did, but it was good. You must have found some crazy setting, because you didn't just hit, you didn't even blast. Buddy, you annihilated your opponent. And not just once, but N times for a jaw dropping X damage.
