i heard a rumor from swampninja, about there possibly being a badge for having 888,888,888,888 chips. i do realize that it would be near to imposable to get that, but it might be there to find a chip bug. the thought is that 888 bill chips would be the cap, and upon visiting the hero's guild you would loose it all and Ryme would receive a message about it. == Sybil ==
We know that Sybil lives before the RRRR badge. But how it relates to the Grandmaster of Retcon badge is still in question. Once someone has both badges, we should consider arranging this page again. == Whirlwind ==
I saw that the whirlwind badge is listed as being earned by making a very fast run, but I can verify that that's not the case.  I played for a while, then left for three years.  When I came back, I finished up all of the new content very quickly.  Within one or two (real time) days.  I'm not sure what exactly triggered it, but my run took over three years.  So it can't be that.Vidae 16:40, 14 July 2012 (PDT)
:What was your "Time Played This Run"?  Even with a three (real) year gap in the middle, that wouldn't increase. Cristiona 19:50, 14 July 2012 (PDT)
The solution is simple, and explains why zicon5 also has the badge: original continuity run also counts for getting this badge.
Also, Harry Dresden mention that the counter used to calculate run time wasn't always there, so the time of your original run (~31,5 hours) is probably the time it took you to complete the new content you mentioned, your previous playing time not being considered because it was played before the introduction of the counter. That or something wacky happened to both of you.
Since getting the badge in the OC is practically impossible Ryme didn't flag them out, but it seems accounts older than the counter have a chance :/ Patojonas 03:51, 15 July 2012 (PDT)

I wonder if it's more literal.  Perhaps something to do with red claws.  Or is there an item with raven in the name?  Also, from the podcast, it almost sounds like 1000 isn't exact. Cristiona (talk) 00:18, 11 October 2013 (PDT)
I think I know how to get the badge but it will take some work. There are 80ish skills, max them out with 10 points each for around 800 points. Close to the "1000 points" hint. Drako dragon 25 November 2013
:There are currently 75 skills accessible to all players (64 class skills+4 nostronomian skills+ 7 other book related skills), plus a couple iotm skills. If you add the skill points from the skills that start at 10 points maximum (Passable Pilot,Heroic Efficiency,Nostronomically Hardened) it goes up to 780 skill points maximum, excluding iotm skills. When this badge was first observed there were no nostronomian skills so that lowers it to 740 maximum skill points invested in all skills back then. Should be easy to check by players who have permed all class skills. Patojonas  04:34, 26 November 2013 (PST)

Just added to move ToC to top

Just mass-used 1000 cups of herbal tea. Aside from feeling that my character really needs to go to the bathroom, there's nothing to show for it. Similarly, using up 7 lacks of pies resulted in nothing. Cristiona 23:26, 15 December 2007 (MST)

Do we know that 666 of pit items, or 52+ playing cards do nothing? It would seem so from conversations in the chat, but I haven't been around long enough to get that far myself. Energythief
Questionaro had 1791 skulls and 5392 claws the last time he was asked. Also, a few people used 54+ cards when they got introduced.--Starker 14:48, 18 December 2007 (MST)

Based on the number "2" on the delayed gratification merit badge, I was curious if going through more than two levels immediately would be worth a badge. Unfortunately, going up five levels without leaving the training screen doesn't seem to merit a badge. I already had the delayed gratification badge. --Wiggy Stardust 21:01, 18 December 2007 (MST)

Also probably been done, but what about rolling through 2 nights? Friday all the way through end of Saturday? Energythief

I tried having as many buffs as I could get, having 777, 7777, 1337, 31337 and 123456 chips and running away 100 times. Nothing =[ Valentine 14:51, 30 December 2007 (MST)

Just in case anyone was wondering wearing a little red riding hood outfit and haveing 1500 minutes of a wolf sidekick does not get you a merit badge. RKBrumbelow (talk) 17:39, 24 June 2013 (PDT)
You added some "unknowns" in between badges. Is this based on something? Do you know where the new badges fit in the order? --Muhandes 06:19, 25 January 2010 (UTC)
Yes, I asked Ryme in chat and he said that number 8, 16, 17, and 20 were missing Zillow

As of August 8th someone is 25% of the way to the new badge (the one that came out July 21st) and Ryme says it "Would be trivial to get in one day, if someone was inclined." Zillow

Sybil

We know that Sybil lives before the RRRR badge. But how it relates to the Grandmaster of Retcon badge is still in question. Once someone has both badges, we should consider arranging this page again. Not sure if that's a 'needs spading' or an 'incomplete'? --Lxndr 15:17, 11 January 2011 (PST)

No need to do anything, it will take at most three days to know. --Muhandes 00:41, 12 January 2011 (PST)
Sybil comes after Grandmaster. --Harry Dresden 18:35, 13 January 2011 (PST)
Excellent. I surmised correctly. --Lxndr 06:40, 14 January 2011 (PST)

Whirlwind

I saw that the whirlwind badge is listed as being earned by making a very fast run, but I can verify that that's not the case. I played for a while, then left for three years. When I came back, I finished up all of the new content very quickly. Within one or two (real time) days. I'm not sure what exactly triggered it, but my run took over three years. So it can't be that.Vidae 16:40, 14 July 2012 (PDT)

What was your "Time Played This Run"?

Ravenclaw

Just some random points about Ravenclaw for badge hunters:

 • They were the "smart" house (valuing intelligence, creativity, learning, and wit)
 • Supposedly they represented the element of air
 • Mascot is an eagle
 • Colors are blue and bronze (blue and gray in the movies)

Cristiona 06:40, 12 August 2012 (PDT)

No badge for having 12007 (base) Intellect. --hoyifung04 19:55, 12 August 2012 (PDT)

Also no badge for having ~1500 Intellect over the base number. --Harry Dresden 10:22, 14 August 2012 (PDT)

I was thinking that maybe it was damage related? Or somehow connected to Flying Above Twilight? Cristiona 01:46, 15 August 2012 (PDT)

Wings of Icarus do need an eagle feather to make, but Kinak said there was no badge for being hit by lightening multiple times (intellect bonus is a reward for surviving)....I did check before he said it anyway.
Maybe there's a way to avoid having the wings get toasted? Patojonas 10:40, 15 August 2012 (PDT)

No badge for obtaining or multi-using 1000 razor claws. Sanjuro 16:18, 15 August 2012 (PDT)

Also no badge for making 250 razor gloves out of those 1000 razor claws. Sanjuro (talk) 16:37, 2 June 2013 (PDT)

I've tried getting to level 10 in the Flight Simulator and then Flying above Twilight with the Wings of Icarus... Ouch! Perhaps if I do that and survive, maybe. It'll take some time before I can try that again, though (not enough illuminum!)  Richard H-G 03:33, 7 September 2012 (PDT)

There are currently 75 skills accessible to all players (64 class skills+4 nostronomian skills+ 7 other book related skills), plus a couple iotm skills.
Nope, OldJanitor has 770 skill points invested and that didn't qualify him for the badge, guess it's something else :/ Patojonas 07:31, 26 November 2013 (PST)

Tried a different approach, but 1000 minutes of nature study didn't do the trick either. Richard H-G (talk) 21:57, 27 April 2014 (PDT)

Talismaniac

Merit Badge: The instructor scratches his head. "Some people say the talisman makes the hero. Others say that heroes make the talismans. I'm not sure what you just proved, but points for empiricism." You get a merit badge: Talismaniac RKBrumbelow (talk) 04:12, 11 June 2013 (PDT)

The Most Interesting Badge in the World

Saw it first on Cristiona's profile. The name hints at the most interesting item in the world. Used 100 for 6995 PP, didn't trigger it. Will try using them in combat. Also, Cristiona has an heirloom run inheriting it. Patojonas 05:43, 13 August 2013 (PDT)

Amateur Vulcanologist

Merit Badge: The instructor brushes some pyroclastic ash from your shoulder. "I said a hot bath might help with your sore muscles, but... well, here's a merit badge for going above and beyond."

You get a merit badge: Amateur Vulcanologist

Related to Hard Mode lava+racing enemies.--Isladar (talk) 14:37, 18 January 2015 (PST)

Enter Initials

The instructor complements you on scoring over ninety thousand and hands you a merit badge. Wow, you didn't know they were handing them out for video games now. Sweet!

You get a merit badge: Enter Initials --Isladar (talk) 20:30, 20 May 2015 (PDT)

I'm guessing it's related to your score in a run that's too hard. Congrats on your score of 90k+! --hoyifung04 (talk) 22:16, 20 May 2015 (PDT)
Thank you! It was. Kinak confirmed there were several badges associated with Hard Mode. I confirmed that there is no badge for doing a Retcon with every class, nor is there one for doing a Retcon with every Talisman. I wonder if there is one for using 39-40 Heroic Visages, a la the Konami code for Contra. I haven't tried that yet.--Isladar (talk) 10:33, 21 May 2015 (PDT)

Zom Psychiatrist

There's a badge to be gained by making permanent all the new ZOM skills. I don't recall the proper name, but the message involved giving therapy to the instructor's coffee machine.

Failure

For what it's worth, putting every "caught" villain in the MD doesn't give anything. Cristiona (talk) 21:08, 10 September 2016 (PDT)

Aspiring Luddite

The instructor smiles as you come in and hands you a merit badge. "Thanks for striking back against our soulless cybernetic overlords. If we don't keep them in their place, pretty soon they'll be counting our calories and reminding us to exercise. Then who's out of a job?"

See my in-game profile on "penguinpyro". Gained on my most recent retcon, at level 1. No idea what I did to earn it.
