- The sidekick becomes available after meeting the Bit Player for the last time during the level 9 quest, or when chosen as an option during retcon.
- The sidekick is managed in the sidekick section of the Hideout.
- The power of each focus scales with the hero's level, until its level cap is reached.
- Some effects and equipment give improved sidekick effectiveness.
- The judo kid gloves grants the sidekick additional capabilities when equipped.
- Prior to November 27 2014, sidekicks and companions were part of the same mechanic, and only one of either could be active at any given time.
